Vacaville Youth Soccer League is excited to start our first TOPSoccer program this 2017 season. TOPSoccer is an outreach program designed to allow persons with special needs the opportunity to play soccer with their peers and volunteers. This program is inclusive for children ages 4 up to young adult. We adapt the game to the ability of the child/young adult, so every child/young adult is involved and is having fun. This is accomplished with the a team of volunteers called “Buddies.” All practices and games will be held at Horse Creek Soccer Complex. Everyone will have fun while learning some basic soccer skills.
TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for soccer) is a community-based training and team placement for young athletes with special needs. The program, designed and administered by US Youth Soccer and it's volunteer TOPSoccer committee, provides meaningful learning, physical participation opportunities to these young athletes through the game of soccer. The emphasis of this program is on development, training and meaningful participation rather than on competition. TOPSoccer was formed to perpetuate the US Youth Soccer mission statement, which is, “ to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development through the sport of soccer at all levels age and competition.” Our goal is to enable young athletes with disabilities to develop their physical fitness, technical skills, courage and self esteem, through the joy and excitement of playing soccer.
