Player and Coach Development

VYSL and VUSC offers development camps for both players and coaches throughout the year. Player development courses are designed to improve a player’s technical skills and tactical understanding of the game in a positive environment that stretches each player’s current capabilities and encourages creativity in their play.

Coach development courses are designed to meet the needs of coaches ranging from the inexperienced to the experienced coach. Coach development will help coaches in creating more organized, age-appropriate training sessions, developing coaching practices and creating an environment that is fun, yet challenging for the players.

Player and Coach Curriculum

VYSL and VUSC has adopted the U.S. Youth Soccer Player Development Model as a training curriculum. The Player Development Model provides a training curriculum for age groups Under-6 to Under-19. The curriculum is designed to serve as a standard to guide VYSL and VUSC coaches on how to effectively train athletes of all levels and abilities.

"The U.S. Youth Soccer Player Development Model was a team effort by coaches and administrators from across the United States," said Sam Snow, US Youth Soccer Director of Coaching. "It will provide not only direction for age appropriate training and matches, but will also give the facts behind the developmental format. I'm confident the Player Development Model will prove to be useful to soccer clubs of every size and level of play for many years to come."

The Player Development Model will help to guide all coaches through the steps of training/developing players and preparing them for matches.  When used in conjunction with the U.S. Youth Soccer Skills School Manual, the Player Development Model will provide clubs of all levels guidance and information to assist their coaches and players. Additionally, VYSL and VUSC has adopted the U.S. Youth Soccer Coaching Manual as a coaching guide and standard. This manual is to be used as a guidebook to VYSL and VUSC coaches to better equip them to coach youth soccer.

UK International Camps are coming to Vacaville

UK Internationals objective is to create the optimal environment in your own community in which children can learn and develop under the guidance of our ‘ultimate soccer educators'.

Coaches, primarily from Great Britain, are selected not only for their knowledge and their coaching ability, but also for their commitment to creating a fun, positive learning environment for the players. The result is a soccer camp experience players will remember for a lifetime.

All camp sessions are based on individual attention to ball skills, as well as fun games to put those skills into practice and develop teamwork. Players are encouraged to express themselves in order to develop confidence and individual creativity on the field.
