Spirit love Horsecreek

The Spirit opened their league season against the Elk Grove Strikers at Horsecreek.  The Spirit started out slowly but after a goal from Mia the Spirit dominated possession and won the game 1-0.

The Spirit's second league game was at Octo fields in Fairfield.  The Solano Strikers played to their strengths (strong and fast forwards) and scored a 3-0 win against a disappointed Spirit team.  The Spirit edged out Solano in possession of the ball but had fewer scoring chances and while having trouble with the tall grass at Octo.

The Spirit bounced back in a big way on Sunday, September 19 against the Elk Grove Cyclones.  The Spirit found their stride on the Horsecreek field and after an opening goal from Lauren the Spirit began to really take control of the game.  Lala added a goal before half-time and the Spirit led 2-0.  In the second half the team spread the field and combined for some great passing and scoring.  Haylee found the net early in the second half and soon after Mia made a great run to the corner flag and crossed the ball to the far post for a one touch finish by Makayla.  Not to be outdone, Megan drilled the final goal of the day past the arms of the outstretched keeper.  All five goals were well earned as the Cyclones are a very skilled team with an abundance of talent.
