The Vacaville United Soccer Club Galaxy U13 Boys competed in South Lake Tahoes CUFA (Come up for Air) soccer tournament June 22-23, 2013. The Galaxy started things off against the Rocklin Predators. The Galaxy took control early and defeated the Predators 6-1. Their second game of the day would come against Ethos Saints from El Dorado. Both teams went back and forth and were very evenly matched. The match would end in a 3-3 tie. The Galaxy would play San Bruno on Sunday in the Semi-finals. The Galaxy took and early 2-0 lead ultimately winning the game 3-1. The lone goal allowed was via penalty kick. The Galaxy would have a rematch against the Ethos Saints in the Championship game. Both teams battled and had their opportunites, but neither team could break through with a goal during regulation. The game would go into two 5 minute overtime halfs only to end 0-0 again. The game would have to be decided by shootout. This of course would go just as the game did, back and forth. Both teams ended the first round tied 3-3 and would go to sudden death. Following a missed goal by Ethos thanks to a great save by the Galaxy goalkeeper the Galaxy would score to win the championship.
